Before starting, I had very little experience in Ableton, and had never produced anything, though I had spent the past few years DJing live shows. Ableton felt extremely intimidating, and I had no idea how to channel my inspiration into something tangible.

The way Donnie teaches is a pure gift. He carries such a powerful purpose in this life, shifting the collective experience of music by sharing the knowledge he lives by so others can fully succeed in their own expression.

"This has been a cataclysmic experience for me. I started with no knowledge of any DAW and no experience composing music. During the very first class, I was blown away by the concept of painting notes and the visual nature of making music in a DAW.

At a certain point, everything clicked and I started to really be able to lose myself in making music. That was an incredible point in the cohort. And I composed, recorded vocals, and created an arrangement (that I love!) by the end. I loved the classes and content - I am going to go back and rewatch all of them as soon as the cohort is over.

After the sound design and arrangement lessons, I found myself lost in the flow state for HOURS. I could not stop. It was incredible. These concepts allowed me to tap into my engineer brain while unleashing my creative side.

The cohort has heightened my appreciation for music producers and all of my favorite songs. "What I've gained... SO much. If you were only asking for the main takeaway, it would be the community. The vibe is like no other I've connected with. Transparency, openness, honesty, grounded, helpful, encouraging are the attributes top-of-mind rn. I have connected with some that I know I'll be collabing with and chilling with like lifelong friends. Coming in with a base knowledge of production, I still cannot emphasize how much I've learned and grown, both technically and creatively. This is a whole new world, and with your leadership along with the guest instructors and fellow cohort peops, I feel like I've got an incredible foundation to build on.

What felt most transformative was watching published artists walk the cohort through a real world project. Skysia, Saturna, Habitaat, and obvi Savej. All of them. Being able to look over the shoulders of producers I listen to was unexpected and eye-opening. SUPER helpful.

My confidence has grown significantly week over week. I think I may have eventually reached this level on my own, but I can say for sure it would've taken several years to get to this point.

"Over the course of the past ~12 weeks, I have easily gained 100X the production knowledge I had before starting this cohort, not to mention 50X the pure resources and useful tools at my disposal now too.

With the epic template Donnie made for us (and was constantly improving on/adding to) it made the process of starting new music, and my Ableton journey, so much more streamlined and effective.

It's chock full of "cheat codes" and "hacks" built in to the basic structure. That, combined with all the recommended/required plugins, from day 1 the course had already paid for itself.

The raw resources was only part one. Part two of the incredible experience of this cohort was through the epic bi-weekly lessons from Savej and a few other wizards. Thanks to the deeply open sharing of these masterful instructors, I feel I have gained a lifetime's worth of production knowledge that I am only barely beginning to comprehend, and thankfully will get to review and return to through access to the recordings for a long time to come.

I've made 3 tracks over the course of this week which are many levels beyond anything I was doing before, and 1 in particular that I feel really proud of and am just about ready to share with the world.

Immensely grateful for the tools, knowledge, implementation exercises, and confidence this cohort has given me.

Lastly, and perhaps the coolest aspect of all of this, has been the community I've gained from it. I've had meetups with other folks from the AFC in my city now, and made several friends from across the world who have given me great advice in the AFC Discord community as well.
